Kid care is an exciting new project we are so proud to be apart of, in conjunction with

ABCs and Rice, our sister Charity in Cambodia.

Based within the school grounds of ABC's and Rice, Kid Care is set up in a separate building and is a fully equipped medical room. Our aim to provide first aid and emergency care to students at the school, and their families; as well as provide outreach clinics in surrounding villages, giving free health care to those in need.

ABCs and Rice is an NGO working in Siem Reap to improve the quality of life for those caught in the poverty trap. It aims to provide an education and nutrition to children from low income families, so as an adult, they can gain employment and therefore an income for them and their families. Currently, approximately 250 children benefit from the services provided by ABC's and Rice.

Whilst education and nutrition continue to be achieved, healthcare is being provided by teachers and other staff who have basic first aid training. We have extended this service by employing a trained local Khmer nurse who has previously worked in healthcare in Cambodia. We have funded her up until September 2024 and are always looking for sponsors to keep this clinic running. We are also lucky to have Christine Matthews from Adelaide, South Australia, a trained Nurse currently volunteering with the clinic and assisting our Nurse, Nina run the program.

The aim is provide immediate care for any pupil who has an accident or is unwell whilst at the school. Appropriate care would be given, but if necessary the patient could be referred onto a local doctor or hospital for a higher level of care. We are also educating the children on handwashing, sanitation, hygiene, clothes washing etc.

Furthermore, our nurse will undertake “outreach” clinics to surrounding villages such as Poom Veal, Poom Sala Consigne and Poom Tak Sen Tbang. These clinics will include basic wound care and health advice, as well as giving nursing care to try and prevent a hospital admission.
